JEFFREY JOHN BORATKO

Jeffrey John (full name Jeffrey John Boratko) is an award winning composer, singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.  He is the principal songwriter, lead singer, and frontman of the Jeffrey John Band. Previously his music was released under the name Streetlight Shakers (voted Connecticut's Best New Band of 2019 by CTNOW). 

 

Over the past decade Jeff has made a name for himself as a sought after composer, session musician, and performer, contributing his talents as a vocalist, keyboardist, saxophonist, guitarist, and bassoonist to many ensembles and participating in several concerts and recording sessions throughout the northeast.

 

Jeff's music has been featured and performed throughout the United States, and has reached international audiences through radio, streaming services, and live streamed performances. He has been commissioned to write several large scores of music for theatrical productions across the country.

 

Since June of 2020, Jeff has performed and collaborated with 7-time Grammy award winner Paul Winter. These concerts have featured Jeff performing his own compositions, staples of the Paul Winter Consort catalogue, renditions of bossa nova classics, and freely improvised music. Jeff has also performed and collaborated with bassist Doug Wimbish of Living Colour and Grammy award winning jazz saxophonist Lew Tabackin. 

 

Jeff holds a BA in Music from CCSU with a concentration in bassoon performance and composition. In addition to learning directly from composers Brian Kershner and Charles Menoche, Jeff has extensively studied the output of prolific musicians like The Beatles, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Pat Metheny, Bela Fleck, and a multitude of classical and jazz composers, homogenizing these influences to create his own unique style.
